Promising 56 catwalk shows over a period of five consecutive days, London Fashion Week kick-started with spectacular displays of avant-garde creations followed by a star-studded Champagne brimming launch party hosted by the British Prime Minister David Cameron’s wife Samantha Cameron.
British designer Zoe Jordan opened the first day with her architecture inspired collection. A qualified architect herself, Jordan drew inspiration from Italian cathedrals and Hong Kong’s skyscrapers to amplify the sharp silhouettes and metallic finishes of her latest autumn/winter 2013 collection, which featured door handle printed tops, sharp edgy shouldered dresses and black and white check trousers.
London-based Turkish designer Bora Aksu’s line was all about contrasting colours and textures. The dreamy fairytale like collection included leather corsets, high collared loose shift dresses, cropped jackets, sheer capes, knitted jumpers and a range of crochet and lace detailed silky separates.
Designer duo Fyodor Golan showcased a demure yet sexy collection made of silk chiffon and organza. The line featured intricately detailed, pleated, embroidered and embellished skirts and dresses in monochromatic shades of black and white.
PPQ, the label formed by fashion duo Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker, presented a surreal collection infused with eye catching hues, apt to make a wearer stand out from the crowd. Adorned with bows, bold prints, exaggerated hats, the line included lime green outerwear, feathered cuff black velvet gowns and beautifully printed eveningwear.
