Only emotion, nothing else but emotion. On the silhouettes of young Chinese fashion designer Chow Ka Wa Key everything flows. Like in the dabs of watercolors by Claude Monet, at every moment light and colors change as your angle of vision does.
With this collection presented at Young Designers’ Contest 2012 at Hong Kong Fashion Week, Key explores the connections between traditional craftsmanship, like felting and knitting, and the latest and most innovative printing technologies.
An approach that gives way to unique surfaces and shades that materialize instantaneous impressions of our lives in the form of relaxing silhouettes. Inspired profiles and images of children dressed as adults, with a look both casual and modern.
Key neither hides nor masks his emotions. Like Impressionism, the young Chinese fashion designer paints textures with swift strokes of his spatula, alternating uniform and irregular surfaces.
His garments express a sense of mobility, the illusory side of reality and a return to our grandiose past.
Chow Ka Wa Key graduated in 2012 in Fashion Design, specializing in knitwear, at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, winning various scholarships
